Dr. Sarah Hill, M.D./Ph.D., is a physician scientist in the Department of Medical Oncology and Division of Molecular and Cellular Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute focused on understanding the role of BRCA1 in breast and ovarian tumor suppression, tumor biology, and therapeutic sensitivity and resistance.  She completed her A.B. at Harvard College, her Ph.D. at Harvard University in the laboratory of Dr. David Livingston at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and her M.D. at Harvard Medical School in the Harvard-MIT HST program.  She is also a Rhodes Scholar and completed an M.Sc. in biochemistry at Oxford University. Upon graduation from the Harvard M.D./Ph.D. program, she completed a brief residency. She joined the faculty at Dana-Farber as an independent investigator immediately upon completion of her residency without any post-doctoral training and won an NIH Early Independence Award with the support of her Ph.D. mentor Dr. Livingston.

Dr. Zelei Yang, Ph.D. is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with research interest in women’s cancer. She obtained her B.S. Honors in Biochemistry from University of Alberta, Canada. She then completed her Ph.D. in Biochemistry also at University of Alberta, under co-supervision of Dr. David Brindley and Dr. Denise Hemmings. Her Ph.D. thesis focused on the effects of cytomegalovirus infection on breast cancer. By joining Dr. Hill’s lab, her research focus shifts toward ovarian cancer and specifically understanding of the tumor microenvironment. In her spare time, she
enjoys reading novels, painting, and traveling around the world.

Funding: Previously OCRA Mentored Investigator Award, Currently Friends of Dana-Farber Award

Dr. Justin Blaize, Ph.D. is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with research interests in cancer and cancer-related disease. He received his B.S. in Biology from West Virginia University. He then completed his Ph.D. at the University of Rhode Island under the guidance of Dr. Niall Howlett. His Ph.D. thesis focused on a rare cancer-related genetic disorder known as Fanconi Anemia (FA). Specifically, he focused on pathway discovery analysis to uncover cellular pathways contributing to disease progression. In the Hill lab, he now shifts his focus to understanding the mechanisms of breast and ovarian cancer tumor progression. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his fiancé, watching football, and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Shuai Zhao, Ph.D. is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with research interests in cancer and immunotherapy. She completed her Ph.D. in Pathobiology at Brown University, where she investigated cancer progression mechanisms, particularly targeting hypoxia and HIF-mediated pathways. She also earned her Master’s in Biomedical Engineering from New York University, where she studied protein interactions relevant to arthritis and Gaucher disease. In Dr. Hill’s lab, she explores the roles of the immune environment and cell cycle regulation in women’s cancers. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing piano, dancing, and traveling.
